CHRISSY Rouse is gearing up for what he hopes will be a strong weekend in Cheshire as the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship returns to Oulton Park.
The Geordie racer – who this week started his first ‘proper’ job as a Maths teacher at a North East school – is excited to be heading back to one of his favourite tracks on the calendar.
And with two races at the Cheshire circuit, ‘Mr Rouse’ knows it’s a perfect opportunity to bank a strong haul of points as the season heads into its final three rounds.
“I’m really looking forward to the weekend, I’ve always enjoyed Oulton Park and have had some great results there over the years, so for me, it’s the perfect place for two races.
“I’m a huge fan of these double-header rounds. I love racing so any opportunity for an extra race is brilliant and it’s also a great chance to grab some more points.”
Rouse will be the Morello Racing Kawasaki team’s only rider this weekend, following former team-mate Tim Neave’s departure from the squad. While he will be joined by another rider for the final two rounds, he will be flying the flag alone at Oulton Park.
“It’s all change with Tim now gone so I’m flying solo for this one with the team. We had a really great test at Donington Park last weekend when we raced with the No Limits club and it was a good chance to try some new settings on the bike.
“I’m very happy with the progress we made and I’m optimistic that the changes will help here at Oulton.
“There are just two rounds left after this one and I want to have a really strong finish to the season. The team has been working hard and I’m ready for a great weekend.”
Chrissy’s weekend gets underway with free practice on Friday, September 6 followed by qualifying and a 12-lap race on Saturday before a longer 14-lap race on Sunday.
